Late Steelies on the Clearwater

My Dad, Derek, and I caught a bunch of wild steelhead on the South Fork of the Clearwater last day of the season Apr 30th. We have never caught steelhead this late in the season, but decided to drive down the South Fork to see if we could catch one or two. The hatchery fish were all up the river, but the wilds were still in the river spawning. We came across a large group of them on a gravel bar. It was cool to watch the males fight and the females making the nests in the gravel. This large wild male is bright red from spawning. We landed 55 fish between the 3 of us; most hooked in the mouth. We tried turkey hunting the rest of the week and couldn't get a tom. We had a lot of fun though.

Travis just read this and he is so jealous, he wants to go steel head fishing. That fish is bigger than all the fish Travis has ever caught added together. WOWZA!!!
