Snake River Fishing

Saturday, Sept. 5th. Dad, Derek, and I decided to float from Firth to Rose in the morning. We made a promise to make it to the fair in the afternoon. We had to wake up at 5 am. to make sure we could get off the river at a decent time. We got stuff loaded, picked up Derek, and made a little breakfast run at Mcdonalds. We got on the river around 7 am. and started catching fish right from the start. We were doing really good. I think each of us landed at least 5-7 nice fish with some other smaller ones. It was a excellent fishing day.
Dad caught this brown after we had a small down time.

Derek landed this nice cutthroat. We weighed it at 4.5 lbs.

This is probably the largest trout I have caught in a couple years. It weighed in at 6.5 lbs. and was a great fight. It is a male brown trout, and he kind of has a pig nose.

We did so good on Saturday, we left even earlier on Labor Day and did the same float. Ashley and Mom went shopping, so they didn't mind. It was quite a bit windier, and we had to oar down river quite a bit. The fishing wasn't quite as good either. Dad did land this really nice brown. We didn't quite get him weighed, but we guessed him at between 5.5 to 6 lbs. He had a really large tail and kipe, but he wasn't as fat as some that we catch. Dad thought that this fish is probably the biggest trout he has ever caught.
