Getting Ready for Parenting

"Redneck Timeout"

Disclaimer: this may look like our niece Jenntry, but it is just from an email I received. At least she has her ducky.

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY! May 11th

I am already tormenting our little girl before she is born. I got Ashley a gift card at a local home decoration store owned by a couple in our ward. "Real Deals" I wish I could give her more; she deserves it. She will be such a great mother. She is looking forward to quiting her job at Selby's Esco to be a stay at home mother with our children.

Picnic At McCormick Park

May 17th We had a picnic with Eric and Sara Roberts, friends from our ward, at McCormick park. It is 80 degrees and beautiful weather. Sara is pregnant with twins due in October. They are very excited. We are too. We took a walk/ waddle around the river afterwards.

I had to laugh at Ashley. She has to go potty a lot now. Olivia, you are really crowding her bladder these days. It is weird these days knowing that we could be parents any day. We are ready for her to come. Ashley's due date is in 10 days.

There is a log bridge to an island in the Clark Fork river near McCormick. Being the daredevil that Ashley is, she thought of crossing the log, but I, the responsible one, advised her against it. Sometimes it is hard being the responsible one.

Doctors Appointment

I had a doctor's appointment this morning.

12 days left before the official due date.

1.5- 2 centimeters dilated.

70-80% effaced.

The doctor said this doesn't mean she is coming right away or not but my body is working. He said it should make the first part of labor go a little quicker and maybe easier. How exciting. It is much better news than being at 0 cent. This gives me hope and makes me think I can do this. Yay!

I have also started having actual back pains, not sleeping great at all, and a sharp pain. All of it is helping make her way down and out!

Babies Room

After months of painting, crafting, little cash, and lots of work, here is the final product. Olivia's baby room. I am happy with it even though there are a few more things I would like to get for the room. We will see. It has been fun coming up with the artwork, mobile, and frames. A lot of work, but fun. I think Liv will be ok with it. Hopefully she like pink.

The Sun came out after a bunch of rainy weather during the week. We rode our bikes downtown to the farmers market. Yes, Ashley is riding her bike 8 1/2 months pregnant. We definitely weren't winning any speed contests. They also had a childrens parade going on that was funny. All the kids were dressed up like animals and marching in the "Wild Walk Parade" downtown.

Late Steelies on the Clearwater

My Dad, Derek, and I caught a bunch of wild steelhead on the South Fork of the Clearwater last day of the season Apr 30th. We have never caught steelhead this late in the season, but decided to drive down the South Fork to see if we could catch one or two. The hatchery fish were all up the river, but the wilds were still in the river spawning. We came across a large group of them on a gravel bar. It was cool to watch the males fight and the females making the nests in the gravel. This large wild male is bright red from spawning. We landed 55 fish between the 3 of us; most hooked in the mouth. We tried turkey hunting the rest of the week and couldn't get a tom. We had a lot of fun though.

Baby Update

Only 3 weeks and 2 days until my due date, crazy! So here is the update.

Been going to my weekly doc visits and last Friday doc said he thinks that baby Liv is about 6 pounds already. If she goes until here due date she will be an 8 pounder! What can I say, can I make a plumper or what. I think all the sweets may have something to do with the size. We will see what size she really is.

Also, finally feeling huge and getting a little uncomfortable. Getting out of bed is a beautiful site. Reminiscent of a whale, really.

Luckily everything has gone smooth. No problems with me or the baby. She moves and kicks a lot. I have a lot of Braxton Hicks contractions, especially when I am busy and working hard.

A couple weeks ago I got a little nervous. I had been busy at work and started having a lot of contractions. I was having about 7 an hour so called the doc. Had to wait for about an hour to hear back but they said I needed to drink water and lay down. They were right. Contractions went away pretty quickly. It did make me see how real it is though! Baby Olivia will really come and there is no question about that.

Had a baby shower Saturday here in Missoula. Mainly everyone from church. Got a lot more cute clothes and things I needed.

I have what I need. Babies room is ready. I am ready to go (i think). Now we just wait.

This year for Easter we were invited to a friends family farm! We had so much fun. We had an easter egg hunt for all the kids, had a yummy bbq, and got to see a lot of farm animals.

My Crazy Fisherman

For those of you who don't know, Brodie is a fisherman. And when I say fisherman I don't mean enjoys the occasional trip down the river. I mean he is a downright, hard-core, definitely obsessed, fish loving fisherman. He loves fishing. This past month Brodie has gone fishing more times than I remember. We figure once the baby comes these trips will be cut down quite a bit so hopefully he can get some good fishing in now.

2 weekends ago I decided to go on a fishing trip with Brodie. I got off work early Friday and off to Sunbeam Idaho we went. Luckily Brodie's father, brother Derek and his wife Laressa all met us fishing so we had a great time. Brodie was super sweet and bought all sorts of treats for us (mainly to keep his prego wife happy) and packed up lots of bedding so I would sleep well.

Brodie fished most of the night and morning (I told you, hard-core) while I slept in the back of our Escape. Not the best sleep of my life being 7 months pregnant, but not bad. In the morning I got up and talked to my sis-in-law and ate by the heater for the rest of the day while the men fished. Brodie hooked one and let me reel it in. It was fun because these Steel-head fish are pretty big and strong (at least to me). Brodie caught 9 fish that trip (3am-1pm) and I enjoyed the outdoors with family (and tried not to freeze). Here are a few pics from the trip.

Yes they fish off a huge rock-cliff. Told you hard-core.
